EMC World 2015 is a short week away, May 4-7, 2015 once again at the Venetian in Las Vegas.   The 2015 session catalog is live!  Is there any doubt?  Flash is impacting every aspect of the Storage Industry, disrupting normal, changing the way storage and applications are deployed across IT Organizations.  Last year I blogged about the EMC World 2014 Breakout Sessions that featured “Flash” as part of the breakout session; last year 2014 there were 9 sessions.  Do you believe that in 2015 there will be 34 sessions that include some type of “Flash”?  As I’ve always said, Flash is Everywhere – and it continues to enable EMC to develop a portfolio of solutions designed to help our customers deploy and manage enterprise applications.  From a small Flash footprint to an all-Flash data center, EMC has the right solution for the job.

Of course there is a focus on performance intensive workloads, but the EMC Flash Strategy is much more than performance – In fact, the most interesting flash sessions this year focus on applications.  Breakout sessions include; Redefining Database & Business Applications Performance & Efficiency With Flash , Transform Your Real Time Analytics With XtremIO & Splunk, Demystifing The Impact Of Flash & Virtualization On Database Licensing, XtremIO For SAP: Game Changer For SAP Landscapes , No Storage Tuning & Complete Operational Simplicity For Databases sessions also focus on Disaster Recovery Business Continuity For XtremIO All Flash Array.

Sessions also include customer case study; FutureCare: How Healthcare Providers Are Leveraging Cloud To Enable Next Generation Healthcare IT , how internal EMC IT leverages Flash EMC IT: Leveraging The Power Of Flash In The Data Center  and hear an industry analyst way in Wikibon’s View On All-Flash Array Trends, Adoption, & Market Leadership

And don’t miss the hands on labs Data Protection For EMC XtremIO With EMC RecoverPoint (Hands-on Lab) and VNXe3200 Management and VMware Integration (Hands-on Lab)

EMC World in one word? Overwhelming! and more so every year. At least that’s the feedback I get from EMC Customers. If you attended, you had to make some choices: What session should I attend? What keynote sessions should I make? If you missed the X Factor in the exhibit hall, you missed the details of EMCs Flash Everywhere Strategy. Featuring an XtremIO array, the X Factor focused on the EMC Xtrem Portfolio. The “X Factor” Theater featured the details of the EMC Xtrem Family: XtremSF (PCIe Server Flash), XtremSW Cache (Caching Software) and XtremIO (EMCs All Flash Array).

I was able to capture one of the last theater sessions of the show; you’ll find it in this episode of www.InsideFlash.com

I also included some footage from the closing party featuring Bruno Mars, hope you enjoy.

XtremSW Cache 2.0 is around the corner, so stay tuned for lots of updates on new features and functionality. Remember, it’s the software that enables the Flash hardware.

XtremIO at EMC World 2013EMC World 2013 delivered on the Xtrem plan, the X-Factor delivered as promised. The EMC Flash everywhere strategy was highlighted throughout the event and even reviewed during the executive keynote! The breakout sessions, packed! Standing room only! The XtremIO sessions were turning people away, just not enough room for everyone. From introduction sessions to production demonstrations, the event was a success.

And as expected, I had my camera and microphone ready. I was able to get the highlight of what’s happening within Flash engineering. As you are aware, the EMC FLASH.NEXT launch introduced the Xtrem Family: XtremSF (PCIe Server Flash), XtremSW Cache (Caching Software) and XtremIO (EMCs All Flash Array). I was able to spend some time with representatives of each engineering team and get a little insight into “what’s next” after FLASH.NEXT.

The biggest “What’s next” has to be XtremSW Cache 2.0. Scheduled to GA in July (2013), XtremSW Cache 2.0 includes some unique features that will continue to set it apart from the competition. Check out InsideFlash Episode #9 below for some insight.

If you’re a partner and you attended Global Partner Summit, Thank You!!! It was a pleasure to
present the EMC Flash Strategy to such an important audience. We are investing as much into our partner community as we are technology!!
